My name is Mike Finnigan, and I am a video game industry professional with more than 25 years of experience designing, developing, and leading teams that create engaging player experiences. I began my career in 2001 in Customer Service at Sony Online Entertainment and, through continued growth in both expertise and leadership, advanced to the role of Associate Design Director at ZeniMax Online Studios. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with and led multidisciplinary teams, always focused on delivering exceptional games and achieving shared goals.

My design experience spans every stage of development, from creating initial concepts and pitch documents for projects of all sizes to implementing complex gameplay systems and mechanics, refining content, and ensuring every detail contributes to a memorable player experience. I take pride in recognizing the subtle improvements that elevate a good game into a great one.

At ZeniMax Online Studios, I regularly represented the development team by communicating current and future initiatives to a variety of audiences. Whether speaking with players at conventions, participating in livestreams, attending community events, or conducting press interviews, I enjoyed building genuine connections with our community and gathering valuable player feedback. I also received extensive media training focused on brand messaging, communication strategy, and public speaking, enabling me to deliver clear, consistent messaging while remaining approachable and authentic.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been developing and mentoring other designers. I am passionate about helping individuals realize their potential and accomplish more than they thought possible. Over the years, I have coached, mentored, and promoted numerous developers, created cross-training initiatives and feedback systems to support professional growth, and helped aspiring designers successfully transition into design roles. My broad experience across multiple disciplines allows me to meet people where they are, understand their unique strengths, and provide guidance that helps them continue growing.
